After six years of collaborating, Laura Deleot and Tori Thomas decided they were better together and established Circa Design in 2015.
Creative Director & Founding Partner
Before joining forces with Tori to launch Circa, Laura manned her own firm, Crookston Design, for more than 10 years. She founded Crookston Design in 2004, while simultaneously serving as art director for American Songwriter Magazine. Prior to moving to Nashville, she lived in San Francisco, where she worked as a senior designer for Chronicle Books, and in New York, where she helped design Real Simple magazine while employed by NYC’s The Valentine Group. Laura graduated from the University of the South and holds a design degree from the Portfolio Center in Atlanta. When she's not working, she draws design inspiration from travel with her family (her husband and two boys), as well as treasured jaunts to far off places like Argentina and Vietnam.
Creative Director & Founding Partner
Born in Texas, Tori studied graphic design at Auburn University. An avid learner, she continues her studies through programs including architecture at Oxford University, art history in Italy, and creative business management at Yale. After college, she moved to Nashville where she worked for Powell Creative and Seigenthaler Public Relations (now SeigenthalerDVL). From 2013 to 2015, she was Director of Design and Publications at Ensworth School, where she learned how to build community through purposeful communication. When she's not designing, she's talking, likely about something she heard on a podcast.
A Nashville native, Liz discovered her affinity for design at Southern Methodist University. There, as an advertising major, she stumbled upon graphic design in creative production classes and knew she’d found her calling. She graduated in 2015, moved back to Nashville and started working at Circa. When she’s not at Circa Design, she can be found at a concert or discovering new places around town.
Born and raised in Nashville, Emily majored in advertising and minored in graphic design at Western Kentucky University. She served as a cartoonist for the WKU student newspaper. Before Circa, she interned with the design department at Ensworth School and worked for the Nashville Sounds. Recently, she moved to the Buena Vista/Metro Center area, where she’s enjoying fixing up her new home in a growing part of Nashville. When she’s not at work, she’s constantly looking for a better view, be it on a hike or around town.
Melody first joined our team as part of our summer mentorship program. We were immediately drawn to her positive spirit and our shared love for books (just check out her instagram and you will fall in love, too). Melody graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in December 2016 with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts and a minor in Entrepreneurship. Her past experience includes working as the Graphic Designer at MTSU's Center for Student Involvement and Leadership and serving as the event coordinator at MTSU's AIGA group. We are thrilled to have Melody join us full time as a design assistant.

Politquo is our creative project allowing us to practice illustration, typography and imagery within limited perimeters while inviting people to join an important conversation around our nation's leaders in a non-hostile environment.
Our newest Circa Creative is a project spearheaded by our Content Specialist, Varina Willse, who worked in conjunction with Liz to launch the new website www.pondereffect.com. The Ponder Effect is a platform that encourages people to o pause, ask questions, ponder them, and then share their thoughts and inspirations in a kind of open journal. The format includes a weekly question that we at Circa and in the wider community can ponder individually and collectively. Sharing our musings in a place of mutual respect and tolerance, we can begin to tap the question: What is possible when we ponder together?
A modern day murder mystery game that combines today's technology with the classic fun of a killer story. Our games are first of all fun, but in tandem with the entertainment is an element of challenge, strategy, and personal development.
