The printing process can be daunting. Finding reputable resources who guide the process and answer questions can make all the difference. Nashville's McGraphics offers custom print finishing along with stellar guidance. Some of their specialty services include embossing, foil stamping, die cutting and making, and die scoring (just to name a few).
McGraphics is responsible for taking a printed project and adding the finishing touches, or creating a unique print entirely based on stamping methods (no ink required). They provide foil stamping, die cutting, scoring, folding and gluing.
Best of all, they work directly with other printers to make sure the finished product prints as intended. But it is still helpful to enter into the process with a basic understanding of print preparations. Below is a list of steps and precautions, along with some vocabulary, that designers can employ to ensure the success of their prints.
During our tour, we gathered tons of tips as to how we, as designers, can better prepare our files for custom finishing. We also learned what to expect from the printing process that can help inform our designs.
A big thank you to Fred and McGraphics for hosting our tour and providing such a great learning experience for our team!
